The attack on the US embassy in Benghazi marks a new chapter in the ties between the 2 countries, that have been strained since the 2011 Libyan civil war. In March 19th US started the attacks on Libya suppressing its air defenses. Two months later the attacks ended with Gaddafi;'s death and the US giving diplomatic recognition to the National Transitional Council. Trouble has flared up all over again with today's attack in Benghazi.
