Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday confirmed that BJP leader Sumitra Mahajan would be the next Lok Sabha Speaker.
Mahajan will be the second woman to hold the key position after the outgoing Speaker Meira Kumar.

Known for her mild manners and universal appeal, Sumitra Mahajan, popularly known as Sumitra tai, has been representing Indore in Lok Sabha since 1989. She was a Minister of State in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government from 1999 to 2004.
