Mamata Banerjee to attend UPA co-ordination meeting - NewsX

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee left for New Delhi on Tuesday to attend a meeting of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coordination committee on Wednesday. Her decision assumes significance in view of the party's continued opposition to foreign direct investment in the multi-brand retail sector, and forward trading — issues that the UPA government is trying to put through. Ms. Banerjee's presence may suggest a thaw in her party's relations with the Congress, but she has not indicated any change in her stand on these issues.
