Four months after Akhilesh Yadav took over the reins of India's most populous state, a series of flip-flops and rising crime point out that elaborate promises have gone a-begging. And pointing this out to the Chief Minister and his men is none other than party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav. Mulayam pulled up ministers and state legislators at a party meeting at the Chief Minister's residence on Tuesday warning them that the government needs to work harder to deliver the promises made by the party in the campaign for the elections. He also warned ministers that recent outbursts against each other were damaging the government's image.
