Ab Ki Baar, Modi Sarkaar, Celebrations break out as BJP registers historic win

Even as the votes are being counted for the General Elections of 2014, the BJP looks set to form a government on its own, an unprecedented feat for itself and a paradigm shift in Indian politics. In India's electoral history there have been three elections which have been rule breakers so far. In 1977, when the Janata Party swept into power on the back of the emergency and Congress was voted out for the first time since independence, in those elections minorities and marginalised, the votes Congress depended on, voted even for the Jan Sangh, the previous avatar of the BJP. They said they voted for democratic rights and not on primordial identities.
