Nearly 24 hours after massive worker-management unrest broke out at the Maruti Suzuki plant at Manesar the standoff persists. Over 1,000 policemen have been deployed at the factory and work has been suspended indefinitely. Sources say 80 workers have been arrested today. A case has been registered against them for attempt to murder and damage to property. The person killed in the fire that broke out in the plant's HR department after workers went on the rampage has been identified as General Manager Avinash Kumar. The Workers' Union on its part accuses the management of casteist comments against a worker and blames bouncers hired by the management for the destruction of plant property.
