UPA for Hamid Ansari as Vice President - NewsX

Sonia Gandhi, as chairperson of the ruling UPA coalition, has announced Hamid Ansari will run for a second consecutive term for vice-president. A meeting of the UPA was held today and was attended by Mukul Roy on behalf of his party leader, Mamata Banerjee, currently estranged from the coalition. Mr Roy opposed Mr Ansari's candidature. Instead, he suggested the names of former West Bengal Governor Gopal Gandhi and Krishna Bose, a relative of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
