Gujarat riots: Verdict deferred in Naroda Patiya case till 29 August - NewsX

The special court today deferred the verdict in Naroda Patiya communal riots case till August 29th. 97 Muslims were slaughtered by a mob in the Naroda Patiya communal riots. The 61 accused include former minister in Narendra Modi Government and Naroda MLA Maya Kodnani, ex-VHP leader Babu Bajrangi and other local BJP leaders. The trial in the case began in 2009 and charges were framed against 62 accused among whom one died during the trial. 327 people including eye witnesses, victims, doctors, police, government officials, forensic experts and journalists were examined by the court.
