NewsX@9: High Court's ruling on Muslim girls' marriage sparks debate -- NewsX
  • 5 years ago
NewsX@9 is a NewsX special show which debates the main news event of the day. The Delhi HIgh Court has ruled that a Muslim girl can marry at the age of 15 if she attains puberty. This is because Muslim personal law allows marriage after puberty. But it was only last month that parliament passed a law rising the age of consensual sex from 16 to 18. It begs the question- should there be uniformity in law? So we debate today-Should the government permit personal laws that are damaging to minors? We debate the question with our panelists and try to evolve consensus over the issue. Watch this NewsX debate show NewsX@9.
