President Patil on Army chief's age row, Defence land controversy - NewsX

For the first time, President Pratibha Patil has spoken out about the army chief's age row that saw him engage in an unsavory standoff with the govt. In an interview to the Indian Express, the President said that the episode should not have happened and handled in a more disciplined manner. President Patil also spoke on the land row over her post retirement accommodation in Pune. She said that a lot was being spoken on the matter but little has been done to verify facts. She said she was deeply pained and disturbed by what has transpired. Patil has given up the plot in Pune after controversy struck.
