Former Swedish Police Chief Sten Lindstrom has made some startling revelations about the murky deal in an interview to the website The Hoot. Lindstrom identifies himself as Swedish Deep Throat, the whistle blower who secretly gave crucial information to The Hindu reporter Chitra Subramanium. Lindstrom says he is speaking out again because the case had a faulty closure...and that the guilty were never punished while innocents were framed.
The most important among those...Lindstrom says is former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who he says got no bribes. However, Lindstrom says Rajiv ignored the massive cover-up of the scam in both Sweden and India. Lindstrom also blames Swedish PM Olof palme and Bofors' MD martin ardbo for fanning widespread corruption in Swedish arms deals and says that bofors was only the final straw that forced a massive probe into their activities.
