Mulayam Singh Yadav is likely to contest LS Polls from two seats
  • 5 years ago
Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav is likely to contest from two Lok Sabha seats this time.
Party sources said that he will contest his traditional Mainpuri seat and also the Azamgarh seat which is presently held by the BJP.
Azamgarh has a sizeable population of Muslims and Yadavs and is considered "safe" for the Samajwadi leader.
Mr Yadav's decision to contest the Azamgarh seat that lies in the politically crucial Purvanchal region could boost the Samajwadi Party's prospects on neighbouring seats. The Samajwadi Party had won just three seats in the region in 2009 — Ballia, Ghazipur and Chandauli.
