After a sizzling performance at the AIBA Asian Olympic Qualifying event in Kazakhstan, the Indian men's boxing team returned home to a rousing welcome. The boxers scripted a new chapter in the Country's boxing history with seven of them qualifying for the Olympics. Out of the seven, three qualifications were secured at Kazakhstan which included Vijendar Singh, Shiva Thapa and Sumit Sangwan. India returned home from the championship with two gold medals and three bronze medals. The boxers were felicitated in the Capital where they have been given cash rewards for their achievements. Shiva Thapa and Sumit Sangwan have been awarded two lacks each for their gold medal while Vijender has been given one lakh.
