The Supreme Court today has granted bail to Dr. Mohammad Khalil Chishty, a Pakistani national languishing in Ajmer jail for the last 20 years for killing a man at a brawl in Ajmer way back in April 1992. Supreme Court has ordered him to stay at Ajmer till his council files a new application. Dr Chishty is 80 now, and is unable to walk unaided. He has to be carried to and from jail by two people. In January last year, the Karachi virologist was awarded life imprisonment after an 18-year-long trial.
