India restricted Australia to 252 for 9 in the crunch tie at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Indian bowlers bounced back after leaking runs in the middle over. At one stage, Australia looked to post over 270 runs. Virender Sehwag was India's best with the ball picking up three handy wickets in his 9 overs. Indian bowlers also gave away just 50-odd runs in the last 11 overs to pull things back. Umesh Yadav played his part giving India two key breakthroughs, sending back half-centurions David Hussey and Matthew Wade. Hussey and Wade added 94 runs for the fifth wicket. Wade departed for 56. Hussey fell for 54. In the early part of the Aussie innings David Warner, especially was in brilliant form cracking boundaries at will. Warner raced to his half-century before he fell to Ravindra Jadeja for 68. Praveen Kumar gave India the early breakthroughs dismissing Shane Watson and Peter Forrest cheaply.
