The diplomatic standoff between Italy and India over the killing of two Indian fishermen has intensified. Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Staffan de Mistura is in India and meet the Minister of State for External Affairs Praneet Kaur to resolve matter diplomatically. Italy mounted fierce pressure on India to allow the marines to be taken back home after offering compensation to the families of the fishermen. But India is insistent that the marines be tried in by the very laws they have broken
