India News: On Nitesh Rane's tweet govt will initiate action if necessary, says RR Patil

India News: Maharashtra home minister RR Patil has said that the government will examine the tweet of Maharashtra industries minister Narayan Rane's son Nitesh Rane against the Gujarati community in Mumbai.

If necessary legal action would be initiated against him, Patil said in Nagpur on Saturday. "The home ministry will examine the issue and if necessary it would initiate an appropriate action against Nitesh Rane," he asserted

Nitesh, a leader of the Swabhimaan Sanghatana, stirred up trouble with a tweet mocking people from Gujarat living in the state, particularly in Mumbai.Apart from his tweet and ones on Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, his remarks sparked off a major controversy. BJP leaders in the upper house in the state legislature demanded action against him on grounds that such utterances "may lead to social disharmony".
