BJP leader and Former M.P CM Uma Bharati is likely to contest in Uttar Pradesh. Sources say that on being persuaded by party chief Nitin Gadkari and other central leaders, Uma Bharati has agreed to contest. The move is said to be aimed at garnering OBC support and also help the party overcome its stature deficit. Sources also note that the BJP Central leadership was working hard to get the state leaders to let Uma Bharati take the field.
