The Rupee continues to slide even further against the Dollar. The currency touched a historic low of 54.22 against the dollar. The worrying slide continues unabated, even as poor performance figures for the economy are ringing alarm bells all round. The weakening rupee comes as the external macroeconomic environment remains inclement...fears of a downgrade of US debt, and poor returns in emerging economies, have increased the demand for the Dollar. In addition continued domestic outflows, and worries of a slowdown, have further contributed to a weakening rupee.
