India News : Amarnath Yatra starts today

India News : The much-awaited Amarnath Yatra kicked off on Thursday with the first batch of pilgrims departing from here for the Holy Cave.

The yatra began amid claims from central agencies of a terror threat looming on the pilgrimage. Union Home Minister Sushil kumar Shinde had spoken of intelligence inputs regarding terror threat to the yatra, but Chief Minister Omar Abdullah denied any such possibility.
