Fighting a crucial electoral battle ahead of the 2014 general elections, RJD president Lalu Prasad said, "June 2nd Maharajganj by-poll would begin the countdown for end of Nitish Kumar government in Bihar."

"The Maharajganj by-election will bring out people's anger against the Nitish Kumar government and the mood of the voters (in favour of RJD) in the crucial battle in 2014," Prasad told reporters.

Prasad has been campaigning for RJD nominee Prabhunath Singh.

This poll will see Nitish Kumar Singh JD(U) candidate PK Shahi and Congress nominee Jitendra Swami going through the triangular contest in Maharajganj.
