Poor Rains Cause Hike in Onion Prices
Onion prices are in the rise yet again. In just one month across the country, onion prices have jumped up to 57 per cent resulting in its retail price moving up to Rs.35 to Rs.40 per kilogram.
The Government is reportedly considering re-introducing a Minimum Export price to discourage onion exports.
The recent spike in onion prices is being attributed partly to a fall in the output in the wake of poor rains in the onion growing regions of the country like Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
