Jussie Smollett: Chicago State's
Attorney Recuses Herself From Case Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx
made the decision on Tuesday. Tandra Simonton, Foxx's spokeswoman It is unclear how Foxx is
associated with anyone in the case. Foxx's recusal occured around the same time as the Chicago P.D. rejected a new tip regarding Smollett's case. According to Fox News, First Assistant
State's Attorney Joseph Magats will
assume the role of acting state's attorney. Smollett filed a police report
claiming that he was attacked
by two men on Jan. 29. New allegations claim that the
actor staged the attack, which is
unconfirmed by detectives. According to Fox News, Chicago detectives are pushing
for the case to go to a grand jury if Smollett does not
provide another interview with police.
