At a rally in Chhattisgarh, Congress president Rahul Gandhi returned land ownership documents to farmers and tribal people. The land was acquired for a factory in 2008. Since the factory was not set up, the Congress had promised to return the land in the run-up to the state elections since the land acquisition law allows people to get back their land. Gandhi said Chhattisgarh is the first state to return land to the farmers under this provision.
