William Barr Is
Confirmed as
US Attorney General The Senate confirmed
Barr on Thursday by
a vote of 54 to 45. The vote was
mostly along
party lines, with Republican Senators
voting for and Democratic
Senators opposing
his confirmation. The appointment is Barr's
second as Attorney General. Known as "the President's
lawyer," Barr supports
expansive executive authority. He'll be in charge of how to
handle the result of special
counsel Robert Mueller's
investigation once it's complete. Mueller is investigating
possible collusion between
the Trump campaign and Russia
to influence the 2016 election. During his confirmation
hearings, Barr wouldn't
commit to making
Mueller's findings public, but he did say
he would publish
"as much as I can." William Barr, via CNN
