Mark Strong talks to us on the red carpet at the Jameson Empire Awards 2012 where Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy won for best Thriller and Best British Film.

The John Carter star talks about the mixed global reacton to the film and explains what excited him about the Mars based adventure based on the classic work of Edgar Rice Burroughs.

John Carter was expected to be the start of new blockbuster franchise but a poor showing at the American box office has earned it an unwecome reputation as the most expensive flop in movie history. With some reports predicting Disney may lose as much as $250million on the project due to bloated production and marketing budgets.

But the film has proved a big hit with some fans and Mark says he simply dosn't know how the apparant commercial failure will affect planned sequels. For now i remains doubtful we'll be going back to Barsoom any time soon.
