Cherry blossoms lay a pink carpet along the streets of Shillong in Meghalaya. The third edition of India International Cherry Blossom Festival 2018 is currently underway in Shillong (Nov 14-17).
This year the flowers have bloomed three weeks prior to their blooming period. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the event at Polo 5th Ground in Shillong.The festival has received international attention with the participation of the
Japan government. Meghalaya is every traveller's favourite destination during this period. Several cultural events other than fashion shows, rock concerts, beauty pageant are held around this time in Meghalaya. These flowering trees are expected to boost tourism in Meghalaya.
