Trump Lashes Out At 'Political Hack' Adam Schiff, Claims 'Presidential Harassment'

President Trump slammed Adam Schiff on Wednesday.

President Trump on Wednesday blasted House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff as a "political hack" and called the investigations he plans to launch, "presidential harassment."  Earlier that day, Schiff announced that the committee intends to more deeply investigate Russia's efforts to impact the 2016 election, its possible ties with the Trump campaign, and the president's financial interests, reports CNN. "The American people have a right to know, indeed have a need to know, that the president is acting on their behalf," Schiff also noted. "We will be conducting our investigation to make sure that the country is protected. We will be doing so in concert with other committees."  When asked to comment on those plans, Trump told reporters: "On what basis would he do that? He has no basis to do that. He's just a political hack who's trying to build a name for himself, and I think that's fine because that's what they do. But there would be no reason to do that. No other politician has to go through that. It's called presidential harassment and it's unfortunate and it really does hurt our country."  In his State of the Union address given on Tuesday, Trump warned that "foolish wars, politics or ridiculous partisan investigations," could topple the nation's strong economy and commented, "If there is going to peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation. It just doesn't work that way!"
