Stunning footage captured off the coast of Thailand shows a freediver encountering a huge manta ray.
The beautiful moment was filmed in the Andaman Sea today (February 2nd).
Historically, manta rays were feared for their size and power. Sailors believed that they ate fish and could sink boats by pulling on the anchors.
This attitude changed in the 1970s when divers around the Gulf of California found them to be placid and that they could interact safely with the animals.
