Polar Vortex Claims More Lives

Polar Vortex Claims More Lives Gerald Belz, a University of Iowa student, was found unconscious outside on campus Wednesday morning. After being rushed to the hospital,
the pre-med student died. An official cause of death has yet to be released, but it is expected that the historically low temps played a role, as the wind chill was -51 degrees. In Illinois, an 82-year-old man
was found dead outside
of his home after falling. In Indiana, three people were killed in a car crash on an icy road. The deceased are a 22-year-old police officer, his wife and the driver of the other vehicle. In Chicago, a man was hit
and killed by a snow plow and a man in Milwaukee was found frozen to death in a garage. Many schools and businesses remain closed,
hundreds of flights have been canceled
and many have lost power. The U.S. Postal Service has postponed
mail delivery in various parts of the
Midwest until the record-low temps subside.
