Peter Jackson to Direct New Film
on The Beatles The announcement comes on the
50th anniversary of the Beatles
final public show together. On Jan. 30, 1969, the Beatles
played a rooftop concert at
Apple Records in London. The untitled documentary will be based
on 55 hours of unreleased footage of
the Beatles in the studio, as the group recorded their
final album, 'Let It Be.' Peter Jackson, via statement The documentary is being made with the support of
Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon
and Olivia Harrison. The original 'Let It Be' album and film were released in 1970 after the band's breakup. Peter Jackson, via statement A restored version of the original film, directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, will be released after Jackson's documentary.
