Turning to the abuse scandal that rocked the nation's sporting scene, the courts have increased the sentence for a former national team short track coach.
Suwon District Court handed down an 8-month additional sentence in an appeals trial on Wednesday to Cho Jae-beom,... who earlier received a 10-month term last September for using violence against his athletes.
He has been charged for the use of violence against some four athletes including Olympic gold medalist Shim Suk-hee.
The coach is also facing separate charges of sexual assault against Shim.
