New Zealand and EU Urgent talks for a $2 BILLION 'FREE TRADE' Deal
  • 5 years ago
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says a completed free trade deal with the EU by the end of this year is realistic, but one political expert says that is optimistic on the EU’s part.

The European Union was founded on the same principles. So, in today’s challenging times, it is no surprise that New Zealand looks to the EU as a natural partner.

A deal with the EU is estimated to benefit New Zealand by as much as $2 billion a year, and promoting it has been a central focus of Ardern's trip to Europe this week.

Under the EU negotiating mandate, trade in some agriculture sectors, like sheep, beef and diaries, would not be fully liberalized.
