Karthik (Mirchi Senthil) is the son of a roadside Idli maker (Ilavarasu). He is a happy go-lucky guy who is always eyeing girls and at the same time studying for IAS! An incorrigible flirt Karthik woos and wins over Subha (Ishara) a middle class girl living with her father (Narain) a government employee and loving mother (Sharanya Ponvannan), who is more a friend to her.However Karthik's father a crude man wants him to marry a rich hotelier's daughter. Whether Senthil and Ishara unite and Senthil clears his IAS exams forms the crux of Pappali.
