Karthik is an aspiring director and the second son of a highly respected doctor. He is in a relationship with Subha, his college mate. Under pressure from her parents, Subha breaks up with Karthik, which leaves him heartbroken. While moping around, he gets an offer to work as a trainee lecturer at a media research centre in Bangalore. There, he brightens up after seeing that his class includes a bunch of beautiful girls. He falls for Anusha, who, too, flirts with him. A year later, he meets Anusha in Delhi for a project and the two realize that they are in love. They break the news to Anusha's Punjabi family. Whether the families accept their relationship and Karthik and Anusha unite forms the crux of the story.
