Viswanathan Ramamoorthy is a remake of yesteryear classic Veettuku Veedu, which also had a cameo by Vijayakanth. Vivek dreams of becoming a movie director, assuming his rich friend Ramki, who is a hen-pecked husband of Roja, will help him. Roja herself aspires of becoming an actress. While Kovai Sarala tries to woo Vivek, Vivek's wife acts as Ramki' partner. The story revolves around the mystery in this confusion.
