The Murder of Heather Church (Crime Documentary)

Heather Church was a teenage girl who disappeared from her home in 1991 while babysitting one of her younger siblings. Robert Browne was convicted of her murder after AFIS matched his fingerprints to those found at the crime scene.

It is believed Browne initially planned to rob the home and killed Heather with a single blow to the head when he discovered the house was not empty when he broke in.

Heather remained missing until skeletal remains found in the nearby mountains were identified as hers. A set of unidentified pajamas were found near the remains but did not belong to her, according to the Church family.

Browne was convicted in the mid-1990s and pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty. He later confessed to 48 other murders, including the 1987 case of Rocio Sperry, who has never been found.
