Los Angeles Teachers Go On Strike

Los Angeles public school teachers walked out of the classroom today in solidarity to begin their first strike in 30 years. The protest comes after 20 months of failed negotiations between United Teachers Los Angeles and the school district. To replace the more than 30,000 striking teachers and staff members, the Los Angeles school district has hired nearly 400 nonunion substitute teachers and assigned 2,000 office staff members to classrooms.
