Missy Elliott Becomes First Female Rapper Inducted Into Songwriters Hall of Fame

Elliott, who is also the
first female rapper to be
nominated for the honor, became the third rapper in history welcomed into the organization. Her predecessors are
Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri. Elliott took to Twitter
to share her gratitude. Other 2019 inductees include
Dallas Austin, Tom T. Hall, John Prine, Jack Tempchin
and Yusuf/Cat Stevens. The 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction & Awards Gala will
take place on June 13, 2019.
