Beyoncé's Company Is Being Sued
By a Blind Woman Over
Website Accessibility According to 'The Hollywood Reporter,'
Parkwood Entertainment, the company
that manages Beyoncé's website, is being sued by a blind woman
named Mary Conner. Conner claims that Beyonce.com violates
the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) because she is not able to navigate the website without the assistance of a person with sight. Dan Shaked, Conner's attorney, via complaint Conner claims that since the pictures on Beyonce.com don't have alternative text, those with visual impairments can't browse or make purchases. The proposed class for the suit includes legally blind Americans who haven't been able to access goods or services
on the site, "during the relevant statutory period." Conner seeks an injunction that would make the site compliant with the ADA, as well as compensation for class members who
were "subjected to unlawful discrimination."
