Hundreds of women rally in Paris during 'yellow vest' protests

Hundreds of women took to the streets of Paris on Sunday, January 6, to take part in the ongoing yellow vests demonstrations that have taken over the country.

The video shows women holding up banners and chanting as they walked in solidarity.

According to media, Sunday's march was held to reclaim the movement from angry activists. Protesters smashed their way into a government ministry the day before, continuing the violent streak the demonstrations have become known for.

The protest movement, which has now seen protests on eight consecutive Saturdays, was initially triggered by anger over an increase in fuel taxes. Thousands have joined to protest the high cost of living and the government of President Emmanuel Macron, seen by many as arrogant and beholden to big business.
