Kim Kardashian-West is having a third child via surrogate due to a condition she discovered during her first pregnancy. Business Insider reports the condition is placenta accreta, which is when placenta is hard to remove after birth. Though Kardashian-West didn't use a surrogate for her second child, she in the end decided that it was her best option. Placenta accreta can not be prevented, but diagnosed pregnant women can take certain precautions to ensure a safe birth. Kim tells C Magazine in an interview that it "was a long road," to get pregnant with her second child after having dealt with complications from the condition.
