Legendary WWE Announcer and Interviewer "Mean" Gene Okerlund Dies at 76 Okerlund joined WWE back in 1984 before leaving for
WCW in 1993. He then returned in 2001 after
WWE purchased the rival brand. Okerlund was inducted into
WWE's Hall of Fame back in 2006. Okerlund is best remembered for his
signature mustache and unbreakable demeanor even when talking to wrestling's most over-the-top personalities for decades. The South Dakota native last appeared in a
January 2018 episode of 'Raw,' doing what he always did best,
interviewing pro wrestling's top stars.
