All About The New Year's Eve Ball In Times Square

According to Reuters, the annual tradition of watching a huge ball drop from a pole on in Times Square in New York started in 1907.
The current New Year's ball has been in use since 2008.
Reuters reports that the glittering ball is a LED studded sphere, created by Waterford Crystal and Philips Lighting.
It weighs nearly 12 thousand pounds is 12 feet tall.
It also sits on the roof of One Times Square all year long, awaiting New Years Eve.
