Picture captures seal pup sleeping on dirty plastic bottle

HORSEY, UNITED KINGDOM — A picture of a seal pup catching some shut eye on a dirty plastic bottle is probably one of the cutest—and the most disturbing images you'll ever see.
According to Lad Bible, amateur photographer John Evered, 52, spotted the gray seal
pup, along with hundreds of other seals on a beach in Horsey, Norfolk.

Gray seals come ashore in large groups every year on the east coast of England to give birth to their young.
The problem now is that seals are facing an increasing threat from microplastics pollution. The toxins released from the plastics can increase the chance of developing diseases. Seals often suffer for many years before dying from plastics poisoning.
Around 12.7 million tonnes of plastic garbage end up in our oceans every year. But the big problem now is that a lot of this plastic is being accidentally consumed by marine animals, which then appear on our plates as seafood.
While we still aren't fully sure what eating microplastics does to humans, it doesn't take a genius to figure out none of it can be good.
