Pence canceled human rights speech to avoid angering N. Korea: Report
  • 5 years ago
U.S. Vice President Mike Pence canceled a speech last week on North Korea's human rights abuses... as tensions build over the regime's nuclear weapons program.
ABC News reported Saturday... that an official in Pence's office blamed a scheduling conflict for the cancellation... but another source familiar with the plans... told ABC that it was in part due to concerns about angering North Korea... and harming the nuclear talks.
The report said there's growing concern in the U.S. that the Trump administration is letting up on human rights issues... in order to move the talks forward.
Talks on setting up a second summit between North Korea and U.S. have been stalled for months.
