According to the Miami Herald, he did so "to get a twisted final word on their political differences." That was among the many revelations contained in a 425-page report from the Broward Sheriff's Office that was released on Thursday. The document also states that Cruz attempted to present himself to lead detective John Curcio as being delusional, saying he'd been hearing voices and that a demon was tormenting him. The report notes that roughly one month prior to the shooting, he sought advice through Quora, asking, "I am neurotypical. How can I pretend to be a psychopath and get diagnosed as one?" The February 14 shooting at Parkland, Florida's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School claimed 17 lives.
