More Adults Get Their News From Social Media Than Newspapers A new Pew study states social media is a more popular platform to find out about current events than newspapers among U.S. adults. This is the first time social platforms have topped newspapers for how adults are receiving their news. In the survey, 20% of adults said they often get news directly over social media. Only 16% still got their news
from newspapers. However, neither are as popular as radio, news websites or TV. Television topped the list with 49% of participants saying it is where they get their news.
