Marriott Hotel Chain Data Breach According to 'The New York Times,' the hackers worked for China's Ministry of State Security, the country's civilian spy agency. The hack exposed data of around
500 million hotel customers at
Marriott and Starwood locations. U.S. officials say there could be indictments against the hackers working for the intelligence services
and China's military. Marriott says the personal information of over 327 million people was exposed. This includes their names, phone numbers, email addresses, passport numbers and dates of birth. In addition, over 100 million other customers' credit card numbers were potentially compromised.
