According to Reuters, nearly half of the S&P 500's components are now in a bear market.
Overall, the benchmark index has been in a correction since October, as it has dropped more than 10-percent from its record-high, set in late September.
But the S&P has not crossed the 20-percent threshold, signifying a bear market, but the market is steering in that direction.
Out of the 245 stocks traded on the S&P, 49-percent have fallen more than 20-percent from their 52-week highs.
